Mitch Trenaman 100 Game Milestone
Mitch Trenaman 100 Game Milestone
In Round 4 this weekend Mitchell Trenaman plays his 100th open-age game for the Demons.
Season 2023 is Mitch’s 10th season with the Pennant Hills Demons. He is 26 years old.
Mitch’s footy career started at the Pennant Hills Junior club in 2007. Over 6 seasons (2007 -2012), he played 84 games, was a member of the Under 16 Division 3 Grand Final team (they lost) and his numerous awards included Best & Fairest in the Under 12s in 2008. He captained the Under 13s and was an U13 and U14 North West representative player.
In 2013, Mitch joined the Penno Senior club and played three seasons (49 games in all) of underage footy (U18/19). In his first season, he was a member of the Under 18 squad that won the club’s last Under 18 premiership in 2013. He played most of the season (17 games) but was unfortunately unavailable for the Grand Final due to an overseas travel commitment. What a disappointment that must have been?
In his third season, Mitch was co-captain of the U19s and received the Best Team Man award in 2015.
Mitch has been a back-man all of his career and, at the Senior Club, he has played mainly in the reserve grade side. He is a courageous, disciplined and reliable defender. When playing, Mitch is immediately recognisable by his black headgear.
However, In 2017, he made his Premier Division debut in Round 2, which unfortunately was a narrow 7 point loss to East Coast Eagles. In 2018, he played mainly with the reserve grade side and was a member of the winning premiership team in the 2018 Premier Division Reserves Grand Final.
Apart from the 2018 flag, other highlights for Mitch include his senior debut in 2017 and watching the Premier Division side win the 2015 Grand Final, against all odds and coming from fifth place. Making this all the more special was beating arch-rivals East Coast Eagles, who had just returned from the NEAFL and were hot favourites for the 2015 flag! It was a classic tale of David versus Goliath (yes, David won)! Another memorable moment for Mitch was running out onto the Sydney Olympic Stadium as a Swans Mascot as a junior!
In 2019, Mitch played in the Division One Grand Final against Sydney University. In a low-scoring match, Penno lost by 25 pts; Uni 7.3-45 to Penno 2.8-20. Mitch was the standout player for Penno during the 3 game finals series and was adjudged the team’s Best Finals Player.
On-field, Mitch is the quintessential quiet achiever, always giving 100% and performing his role as part of the backline. He is a respected member of the footy club and always puts the team first. He’s always willing to help out and do his bit when things need to be done.
We wish Mitch all the best in his 100th game.
Go Penno!
