Football
A beautiful day for football greeted as we headed to Rosedale Oval Warwick Farm for the Women’s Division 2 Second Semi-Final versus Randwick Saints at 11:00am. To top and tail the day, the Reserve Grade Men were at Henson Park at 3:50pm in the Qualifying Final.

Our Women were victorious and head to the Grand Final. Our Men take advantage of their second chance, and head to the First Semi-Final next week.

We have begun preparations for season 2023. Pre-season will commence on the 8th of November and run till 18th of December. We then break for Christmas/New Year and will return to training on January 17th.

Facilities
We look to construction on the underneath beginning anytime now. Hope to have new change rooms for the season start in 2023.

We continue to work with the council on a rehabilitation centre and reinstating the “bus shelters” for interchange facilities on the lower oval.

Functions
AFL Grand Final Day
24th September at the club rooms and lower oval. We will have a family day with food and fun. Who is the club’s fastest 100m sprinter and longest kick? Sweeps for Norm Smith medallist, first goal scorer etc. It will be a fun day not to be missed.

We will look to conduct the best and fairest count for the club up to round 12. The last rounds will be counted on Presentation Day.

Good For Footy Raffle
The best way you can financially support your club now is through the Toyota Good for Footy Raffle. The funds raised here come straight back to the club. These funds will be used to rebuild up to date scoreboards on our top and bottom ovals. This will enhance the experience for all on game day. We are also hoping the scoreboards we can acquire will allow us to entice more sponsors to the club, due to the game day coverage we can provide them.

Please, get on board and purchase your tickets, with the chance to win 1 of 3 brand new cars. We need you. Tickets can be purchased through the link here: https://toyotagoodforfooty.raffletix.com.au/pennanthillsfc?v=1&sref=xncyrbpg

It’s fair to say we probably didn’t play our best footy on Saturday, but we weren’t too far off the mark.

We certainly had our opportunities and to be goalless at half time and only 20 points behind gave us some hope after the long break.

Our pressure lifted in the third quarter and kicking straight certainly helps with four goals straight to turn for home six points in arrears.

Norths kicked one quickly to start the fourth quarter and we thought we’d answered almost immediately, only for the goal to be disallowed and a free kick paid to our opposition.

We then let our opposition get away and full credit to them, they reacted quickly all day, ran in waves and hit their targets.

With about a third of our boys playing finals at Reserves level for the first time, we’ll be better for the run.

We head back to Henson on Sunday night at 6.35pm to meet St George to keep our season alive.

Congratulations to our Women’s Div 2 side on their resounding victory.

Good luck in the Granny!

David Pinker – Men’s Premier Reserves Coach

Division 2 Women
(PH 8.3.51 defeated Saints 0.0.0)

A spot in the grand final up for grabs against Randwick with a 1st vs 2nd matchup. We knew that it was going to be a tough contest but from the energy in the rooms beforehand it seemed that the girls were well and truly up for the match.

The first quarter we started off with a bang, getting a perfect centre clearance from some excellent ruck work from Emma Richards. We got the ball in quick to Jodie Llamas who converted with a goal. The rest of the quarter we were under some pressure from Randwick who spent most of their time attacking our goal face. Credit to our defence who held strong and didn’t concede despite all the pressure that came their way.

Second quarter we turned up the intensity and our tackle pressure. Constant tackle pressure from Emily Lewis, Emily Phelps and Jesse Smith in the midfield helped get the ball in our hands, and with great use from Emily Carroll, Madi Fleming and Amy Court we surged the ball forward. It was a dominant display from our midfield group, and it showed on the scoreboard. Leading the game 32-0 at half time.

We came out after halftime wanting to continue with our intensity to put the game out of reach. The backline stopped everything that came their way. Alex Williams at CHB taking countless intercept marks and winning crucial contests helped relieve any sort of pressure that was coming our way. Again, the midfield worked well to move the ball forward. Eliza McDonald provided a good target to hit, and she made a contest of everything, this was then followed up by our small forward in Bela Nash and Ash Grubba who were great on the ground.

Fourth Quarter we had 18 minutes left to secure a grand final spot. We continued our dominance through the mids and our forwards executed kicking another 2 goals. The game finished with a 51-0 victory and an overall fantastic team game played by everyone in the team.

Our most complete performance of the year so far at such an important game. We have the week off this week and have secured a spot in the grand final on the 4th of September at BISP. Looking forward to getting a big crowd there to support and cheer the girls on to try bring home the first ever women’s premiership for Pennant Hills.

Jed Corbett – Division 2 Women’s Coach
