Football
Premier Men’s play a must win against St George at home this Weekend. Both teams must win to make finals. This will make for a cracking game of football, a must see. Come to Greenway Park to watch what will be a high standard all stakes game of football. For those who can not physically make it, it is also match of the round, broadcast on KAYO.Premier Reserve Grade, assured finals, play to hold a double chance. Last time they played eachother, Round 1, we held of a late surge by running St George to record the win. This week I’m sure David Pinker will want to set an early high standard and continue that for all four quarters. Over the last couple of weeks Reserves have been playing some of our long out stars as part iof their rehabilitation from long term Injury. They have now earnt their stripes and will play for Premier Division this weekend. Welcome back to Premier Division Tom Angel and Isaac Franks. We look forward to seeing you play deep into finals.
Women’s Division 2 played impressive football out at Rosedale Oval to put away the South West Sydney Blues last weekend. This exciting brand of football has them running in support of each other, moving the ball quickly and using angles well. We look forward to this game style taking Jed Corbett and the girls deep into finals also.
Our other teams will be looking to end the season on a high and making sure that the memory of the first full season for a number of years will have them keen to be part of season 2023. We wish all teams well.
Our Division 3 Women and Under 19’s will be playing at Ern Holmes Oval from 3 pm. This initiative will launch the new club rooms and facilities at Ern Holmes Oval. It will also serve as a transition tool for those YG18 and U17’s moving into senior football next year. They will be joined later by the Senior Squad to support them and for an end of home and away season discussion.
Planning is underway for Season 2023. There won’t be too long to rest weary bodies as pre-season will kick off on November 8th.
Milestones
We have two players reaching very big milestones this weekend. John Acheson, our club historian, has written some excellent articles on these two players.
Kieran Wright will play his 300th game for the club. Kieran record is outstanding, and he is a champion of the club. Congratulations mate and thank you for your service to the Demons. Please read the article on his career here.
Tim Scoular will play his 100th Game for the club. Tim is an asset to the Demons and brings a great attitude and personality to our ranks. He is an extremely reliable player who I know many love to be running alongside. Tim makes the club and the teams he is on better. Thanks for being part of the Demons. Please also read the excellent article on Tim Scoular here.
Facilities
We are grateful to Terry Donohue for his work in completing works for stage 1 of the construction of the club rooms. We now have reinstated fencing that will protect our storage container. Further, he has secured our underfloor storage area which should stop the young kids getting into it during the week, and reinstated some electrical, water pits, plumbing and covers. Thank you Terry, the use of our clubrooms and security of them is now much enhanced.
I look forward to the commencement of stage 2, enhanced toilets facilities, change rooms, storage and a rehabilitation centre. Works will commence this month and should be completed by June 2023.
Functions
Masters Night In
The Master’s team had great attendance in the clubrooms to watch the Collingwood Melbourne game. What a great game of football that was to watch, and what a fun night. The guys had good chant and banter all night; they provided snacks and pizza and supported the club well through the bar.
I encourage all teams to book a team function at the club rooms. A great, safe way to have a fun night and support your club. To coordinate a date to use the club rooms, reach out to our VP, Ian Parker, vp@phafl.com.au or catch him at the ground.
Good For Footy Raffle
The best way you can financially support your club now is through the Toyota Good for Footy Raffle. The funds raised here come straight back to the club. These funds will be used to rebuild up to date scoreboards on our top and bottom ovals. This will enhance the experience for all on game day. We are also hoping the scoreboards we can acquire will allow us to entice more sponsors to the club, due to the game day coverage we can provide them.
Please, get on board and purchase your tickets, with the chance to win 1 of 3 brand new cars. We need you. Tickets can be purchased through the link here: https://toyotagoodforfooty.raffletix.com.au/pennanthillsfc?v=1&sref=xncyrbpg
