Sam ‘Ziks’ Zikman – 100 Game Milestone
Sam ‘Ziks’ Zikman – 100 Game Milestone
Originally from Melbourne, Sam ‘Ziks’ Zikman, played more than a decade of football for the Mulgrave and Glen Waverley clubs in the Eastern Football Netball League. He won a premiership with Mulgrave in 2010.
Changing careers from PE teaching to community football development he moved to Sydney and joined the Demons in 2014. He was a member of the Premier Division team that lost the 2014 Grand Final to Manly and he kicked 1 of Penno’s only 2 goals that day.
He had a brief dalliance with the Parramatta Goannas in 2017 before returning to Penno in 2018 to finish his career at the Demons. He was a premiership player in the 2018 Premier Division Reserves Grand Final coached by club legend Jason Clarke.
2021 is his 7th season with Pennant Hills. This weekend in the Masters match against the Southern Dingoes, Ziks will play his 100th game for the Demons. He would still prefer to play with the Reserves but because of his current role of AFL Community Football Manager he is proscribed from playing in the regular competition.
For most of the time Ziks has played as a canny, sure-handed forward and is considered an ‘elite’ forward pocket. He’s good overhead and a straight kick. At Penno his goal tally is currently 167. He has twice kicked 6 goals in a match; against Balmain in 2015 and against Manly in 2018. Late in the season last year, Ziks notched up his 300th career game and was poised on 97 games for Penno at the start of 2021.
He’s a popular figure at the club with a big heart and great club spirit.
Congratulations Ziks on your 100 game milestone with the Demons!
Go Penno!!
